Corozal and Orange Walk are districts (states) situated on the New River and Northern Highway. They are located north of Belize City. Both towns are a mix of Spanish, Maya, East Indians, visiting Mennonites and Chinese. Spanish and Creole are the most common languages spoken. The area's economies are primarily dependent on the seasonal harvesting and processing of sugar cane.
